# Issue 10 - UNLEASH 10XInspiration behind Unleash 10X |
Hey Reader Many of you asked me, why are you starting your newsletter & what the hell name Unleash10X comes from ? Being 10th episode of our newsletter, it seems the right time to answer the inspiration behind it, and the name 10X behind same. What’s packed in this issue ? Inspiration behind Unleash 10X For a long time now, I have been working on various projects. Some of them I have shared in my past newsletter, but many remain unknown and buried. So, why add another project to the mix? If you know me, you'll know that I'm the type of person who is always restless and whose mind is constantly racing, like that of a sprinter on their last leg (although I am a long-distance runner, but more on that another time). I find creative energy in these projects, even if they don't always gain much traction. I keep trying one thing or another, hoping that something will take off. However, I've realised that I tend to jump from one project to another too quickly, without giving them enough time, focus, and energy to flourish. This inconsistency has been the main cause of my projects not reaching their full potential. So, I decided to start something with the sole purpose of maintaining consistency and providing value, no matter what I do. Around this time, I noticed the trend of newsletters popping up all over Twitter, and the idea struck me. My intention was to write a weekly newsletter for 23 weeks, with the aim of optimizing my writing skills, even if I don't gain any more subscribers during this time. Why 23 weeks? There's no science behind it, it's just a random number I chose from the year we're currently in (2023). Now, why did I choose the name Unleash 10X? I was constantly exploring how I could challenge my limiting beliefs that were holding me back and unleash the hidden potential that lies within me. This is where I came across the famous quote from Elon Musk: "Stop being patient and start asking yourself, how do I accomplish my 10-year plan in 6 months? You will probably fail, but you will be a lot further ahead than the person who simply accepted it was going to take 10 years." And it just hit me hard. It may sound intimidating, but the truth is, by challenging ourselves to think this way, we can unlock a whole new level of productivity and potential. Why does this mindset work? Because it forces us to be efficient with our time and resources. When we have a long-term goal, we often give ourselves too much time to complete it, leading to procrastination and wasted effort. But by setting a shorter deadline, we eliminate the luxury of procrastination and focus on what really matters. This way, we can achieve more in less time. However, it's important to note that this mindset isn't a guarantee for success. In fact, Musk himself acknowledged that we will likely fail along the way. But the key is to not let failure discourage us. By pushing ourselves to achieve a lofty goal, even if we don't quite make it in the allotted time, we still end up further ahead than if we had settled for a 10-year plan. So, how can you apply this mindset to your own life? Start by setting a big, long-term goal for yourself. Maybe it's starting your own business, learning a new skill, or traveling the world. Once you have that goal in mind, ask yourself, "How can I accomplish this in six months?" Don't be afraid to dream big and think outside the box. Break your goal down into smaller, actionable steps and set deadlines for each one. Focus on the 20% of tasks that will produce 80% of the results, and eliminate the distractions and unnecessary tasks that won't get you closer to your goal. Remember, this mindset isn't about putting undue pressure on yourself or beating yourself up if you don't achieve your goal in six months. It's about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and unlocking your full potential. By taking on a challenge that seems impossible, you may surprise yourself with what you can accomplish. So stop being patient and start asking yourself, "How can I accomplish my 10-year plan in six months?" |
